Meera Patel is a senior at Southern Methodist University and an aspiring attorney with experience across legal, compliance, social media, and nonprofit work. Before transferring to SMU, she attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where she began building her foundation in pre-law, leadership, and advocacy.
Meera has gained experience in legal and compliance settings, where she has worked on legal research, regulatory tracking, client-facing communication, and organizational support. Her interests include corporate law, legal technology, admissions strategy, and expanding access to resources for first-generation and underrepresented students pursuing law.
In addition to her academic and professional work, Meera serves as Chief Operating Officer of Women in Law Organization, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting women and underrepresented students interested in the legal field. She also co-hosts You Belong in Law, a podcast focused on making the pre-law and law school journey feel more honest, accessible, and community-centered.
As a first-generation college student and immigrant, Meera is passionate about helping others feel less alone as they navigate college, career goals, and the uncertainty that comes with figuring out their next steps. Her own pre-law journey has shaped her interest in mentorship, storytelling, and making law school admissions feel more approachable.
Outside of work and school, Meera enjoys creating content, exploring coffee shops, reading, watching true crime, and spending time with friends and family.
