With decades of practical experience, including recruiting positions at large, medium, and boutique-sized law firms, Rob’s admissions approach focuses on applicant employability and drawing connections between an applicant’s strengths and real-world applications.
Rob’s career as an attorney spans 25+ years, including stops at Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis (now Holland & Knight), Bone McAllester Norton (now Spencer Fane), and managing partner at Baker Kelley. While practicing corporate, intellectual property, and transactional entertainment law, Rob was also on—or chaired—the hiring committee at each firm, evaluating and recruiting lawyers throughout the United States. Prior to joining Spivey Consulting, Rob tapped his client base and transitioned more fully into the music industry, helping to build and manage the careers of successful entertainers at his own boutique artist management firm.
With a BA in Philosophy from Vanderbilt University, Rob earned his JD from Washington & Lee University School of Law in Lexington, VA, in 1999. Rob has known Mike Spivey since their time at Vanderbilt 30 years ago, and he works side-by-side with Mike to advise law school applicants in the admissions process.
Rob and his wife live just outside of Nashville, TN, where they have raised three daughters and twice as many dogs and cats. In his free time, you’re likely to find Rob trail hiking, mountain biking, or traveling with his family to northern Italy or coastal Spain.
