Sarah helped me at every step throughout this process, whether it be responding to any and all questions I had, preparing for interviews, or helping me choose a story that expressed both my identity and my interest in law school. Sarah always made time for me, calling me when I got off of a waitlist at a top choice school and making time to respond to emails during holidays and other breaks. Lastly, Sarah took the time to get to know me as a person and not just as someone she was helping to refine application materials, and that made all the difference, evidenced by my eight acceptances and seven waitlist offers. After getting off of the waitlist at Boston College Law School, I will be excitedly heading there in the fall!

Danielle Early has gone above and beyond as my consultant. She is incredibly responsive, diligent, hard working, communicative, and empathetic. I can’t imagine going through this process without her—in fact, I worked with two other non-Spivey consultants before her, and to say she excels beyond what most consultants provide to their clients is an understatement. Her background as a former admissions officer has allowed her to provide targeted, emotionally intelligent advice, and her writing and communication skills have brought my essays to perfection. I’m also a client with high expectations and urgent demands, which she has handled with so much empathy and kindness.

Kevin Petty was exceptionally helpful and knowledgeable about the law school admissions process. Documents and emails were returned quickly, even during the busy part of the cycle. As someone who purchased an a la carte service, I never felt pressured to buy a more expensive package.

Danielle Early was absolutely amazing. I am confident that I would not be heading to Georgetown Law this fall with a 160 LSAT and as a KJD if it were not for her expert guidance through the application and waitlist process. I can’t recommend Danielle enough!

I am a super splitter who previously applied during the 2020 cycle on my own and didn’t get in anywhere. I contacted Spivey early in 2021 for an initial consultation, and Danielle Early came up with a helpful roadmap for the next year and a half to make me a stronger applicant. When I was ready to apply in 2022, I appreciated how Danielle helped to frame my application, respected my ideas and rolled with the many changes I made to essay topics, kept me on schedule, and answered my many anxious questions with ease and without judgment. I’m the first person to be a lawyer in my family, and I didn’t know anyone else applying to law school. Danielle was an invaluable resource during my cycle, and I don’t think I would be at my top choice (with a scholarship!) without her.

I worked with Anne Dutia and immensely benefited from her help. I’m someone who has always done a lot of my own research about law school admissions. Which just goes to show how unique and irreplaceable Anne’s advice and edits really were. I know I outperformed my numbers, and that was in no small part due to Anne’s help. I am a repeat client of Jenn Kopolow’s. I first came to her a couple years back when I originally applied to law school. Save for the LSAT (which LSAC has made into a somewhat efficient process), the rest of the application cycle was an inherently opaque process. Jenn’s experience and expertise helped clarify many nuances that simply would not have been known by people who have not been through this process before. It was primarily this reason, along with a myriad of other benefits that can only really be understood by undergoing the Spivey consulting service, that I came back when I realized I had the grades after my 1L year to apply for transfer (another opaque process, and arguably even less inherently transparent than initial applications).

Through both cycles, all my questions, regardless of how minute or silly they seemed, were answered promptly and with great detail. I gained insight into facets of the admissions process I otherwise would not have known and felt many more times confident in submitting the application I did with Jenn’s guidance. Make no mistake — the brunt of the work and effort still remains on the applicant. However, Spivey makes all the difference. The best analogy I can come up with is imagine the applicant is a student filmmaker, creating a film for the very first time. The student is still fully responsible for every aspect of the project - casting, cinematography, editing, etc. Jenn’s expertise and guidance would be akin to having an A-list director providing advice to said hypothetical student throughout the process. The final product is still mine - but just a much better iteration of it. Thanks Jenn!

The law school application process is filled with many uncertainties and ambiguities. I am remarkably grateful that I had Anne Dutia to guide me through it. I expected Anne to be knowledgeable and professional, which she certainly was. However, what struck me was her consistent attentiveness and empathy. Anne’s approach to application writing is intentional and thoughtful. I learned many things about the admissions process, but also about myself. With her help, I was able to weave together meaningful experiences in my life to create a genuine, compelling narrative that I was proud to submit. I am transferring to Columbia Law School and could NOT have done this process without Paula Gluzman. While I am choosing to attend Columbia, I got accepted into 5 out of the 7 T-14 schools I applied to. She was always available to chat and was always so supportive while being realistic and excited about the process. She had the perfect balance of letting me explore what I wanted to write about in my personal and diversity statements, while still being guiding and helpful. She was especially helpful when it came to talking through what I wanted to write about and VERY helpful with editing and polishing. I appreciated the liberties she took with my materials to make them better while keeping my voice and my story. I struggled with my diversity statement, but Paula made me feel seen, heard, and valued for whatever experiences I felt were important for my identity. Paula is truly amazing and I could not recommend her enough!

The guidance I received from Rodia Vance during my law school application process was exceptional. She was highly communicative and patient in response to my questions. It was helpful to have someone who has seen numerous application files review my own to ensure that my materials were structured in an optimal format, because even small errors can make a difference in an applicant’s chances. She was unafraid to offer candid, constructive criticism that helped me dramatically improve my personal statement. With her support, I was able to submit an application that clearly expressed my narrative in my own voice and earned the admissions outcomes I dreamed of.

Working with Sir Williams was one of the best choices I made during my cycle. My personal statement and addenda were all vastly improved through his guidance from inception to completion, thematically and grammatically. He helped me find my voice and instilled confidence that I was sorely lacking. Having access to him throughout the year for quick questions and regular conversations kept me grounded in a sea of bad information. It’s very hard to imagine I’d achieve the same result without him. I’m attending a school I only dreamed about as a kid because of his help.

Joe Pollak was compassionate, reliable, and professional. He answered every one of my novel-length emails, read numerous drafts of my personal statement, and regularly made himself available to hop on the phone and talk through my new ideas. I felt informed throughout the entire process. Things like these are always nerve inducing, but I was confident submitting my final application materials.

Throughout the entire application process, Danielle Early was responsive, thorough, and insightful. My application wouldn’t have been half as effective if not for her feedback, which was always delivered in a clear yet constructive manner. She is, without a doubt, one of the best in the business.

During my time with Spivey, I worked with Emily Allen for scholarship reconsideration. Despite being a point under a school’s median LSAT, Emily successfully helped me increase my scholarship from 50% to 75%. Without Emily’s insights and advice, I don’t think this would have been possible. She had great communication and was always prepared for our conversations. She coached me through the “ask” process, allowing me to feel confident and secure in my own negotiation ability. I appreciate her honesty and dedication throughout this process. I was initially hesitant to proceed with a third party, but I cannot express how grateful I am that I did.

Nicholas Everdell’s guidance this cycle was invaluable. I decided to apply relatively late in the cycle, submitting my applications in early to mid-January. With a 3.6 GPA and an even worse graduate GPA, I was unsure if I had a shot at top law schools. Nick pushed me to take the necessary time to refine and perfect each of my essays and his editing assistance helped to transform my applications. His insight into the admissions process allowed me to avoid the common pitfalls faced by applicants who follow online admissions advice. On August 31st, I will attend my first class at Harvard Law School. With a sub-3.5 GPA, I did not believe HLS was in the cards for me. Luckily, during the 2021-2022 admission cycle, I was working with Joe Pollak. Joe challenged me to re-write significant portions of my personal statement and showed me that I could create a better impression with admissions offices by streamlining my GPA addendum.
