I’m amazed at how much I’ve grown through the Pre-L course. I’m walking into 1L feeling confident from all the preparation and advice Jordana Confino has given me this summer. Joe Pollak is as great a consultant as he is a person. He was detail-oriented throughout the entire application process. Some drafts, even short answers and short essays, were reviewed up to ten, eleven times. He is perceptive, for he is able to pinpoint my thoughts and questions, or identify my “angle,” even when I am not able to explicitly articulate them. I appreciated the way he drew on his experience to offer relevant and comparable points of reference. His feedback is always actionable; I never felt lost or confused about his comments. No matter what roadblock or hurdle, mental or physical, I ran across, Derek was right there alongside of me for support, and I greatly appreciate and thank him.

Derek even gave me guidance on negotiating my scholarships, something I wasn’t aware I could do. Most importantly, Derek is real and gives it like it is. I am a repeat client of Jenn Kopolow’s. I first came to her a couple years back when I originally applied to law school. Save for the LSAT (which LSAC has made into a somewhat efficient process), the rest of the application cycle was an inherently opaque process. Make no mistake — the brunt of the work and effort still remains on the applicant. However, Spivey makes all the difference. The best analogy I can come up with is imagine the applicant is a student filmmaker, creating a film for the very first time.
